Some time ago I sent a question to everyone how I could get
Sozobon C. A lot of people offered to send me a floppy
copy, until I heard that I could receive it from the SSYX
archive. This worked fine. Now I have the same problem again:
there seems to be somewhere a TeX program for the ST on some
server, but I do not know how to access it. Maybe someone
can help me.
After this experience my suggestion is: collect all information
about program archives in one file (contents, how to access
from any network etc.) so that people like me do not always
have to cry for help. If nobody has had this smart idea before,
I could do the work and collect the information which I receive.
Probably the people who manage these archives have published
changes in the past, but there seems to be no overview up to
date. So: PLEASE SEND ME WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ARCHIVES !
Friedrich

Korrekt ist KBad@Atari.UUCP, woher kommt das ames ?
Fuer die Fragen brauchst Du wirklich nicht kbad zu emailen. ausserdem
scheint der auf email sowieso nicht mehr zu antworten ... :-)
>1. Will there be a ROM-Port (for my home-made graphic board)?
ROM-Port ist da, ob da allerdings die gleiche HW dran haengt (d.h. Adressbreite
etc.) weiss man noch nicht.
> 2. Will there be a ASCI-Port (for my upgraded SH205 (now 2 LUN's each 40MB))
Ja, es gibt ein ACSI-Interface, aber man sollte aus Performance-Gruenden doch
eine SCSI-Platte nehmen.
>3. Will I have to buy another TT, when I want to upgrade to *NIX?
Von der HW her nein, die Frage ist nur, was Atari dann fuer eine Sys V Rel 3-
Lizenz kassieren wird ...
>4. Will the anounced Price of DM 6.500,- (about 2.300 pound st.)
> include a monitor and a 30 MB SCSI hard disk?
Ja, es ist sogar eine 40 MB dabei, zumindest lt. Messeankuendigung

Hello there,
mail to Ken Badertscher bounces, so I post this in the list...
By the way, I tried
kbad@atari.ames.uucp
and
kbad%atari.ames@relay.cs.net
-------------------- original mail starts here --------------------------
Hello Ken,
your contributions to the ATARI-16-List made me wanting to send you
the following short questions about the TT. I am quite sure that I
will buy one, but some answers would help my decission. And you
contributions to the list seemed as you know a lot of this machine.
1. Will there be a ROM-Port (for my home-made graphic board)?
2. Will there be a ASCI-Port (for my upgraded SH205 (now 2 LUN's each 40MB))
3. Will I have to buy another TT, when I want to upgrade to *NIX?
4. Will the anounced Price of DM 6.500,- (about 2.300 pound st.)
include a monitor and a 30 MB SCSI hard disk?
I am not quite sure, whether you can give me answers. If so, I would
be happy to hear from you. Thanks in advance...
...CU Carsten.

Hello there,
I heard a rumour that TOS 1.4 isn't sold (it is NOT sold in Hamburg!),
because ATARI wants to sell TOS 1.6, as in the 1040STE. I can not believe
this, because their hardware is different.
By the way, is there someone with an ORIGINAL TOS 1.4 out there?

Subject: LASER PRINTER FOR SPECTRE & PC DITTO
I think that my finding may be of interest to our netter. While I am still
wating for my Spectre GCR/Software version 2.0 to come. Hewlett Packard has
introduced the new Laser Jet IIp which only cost Singapore $640 (US$320) more
than the Desk Jet Plus. I am tempting to buy this printer rather than DJ+ there
fore had tried it out for the past 1-1/2 weeks. To my surprise, it can print
Mac Paint Pics, PageMaker 3.01 Documents and ModelShop, and all others Macintos
h programs under Spectre 128 Version 1.9 at 300 DPI without any problem. I am
using the Mac Print version 1.0 and loaded the Laser Jet Soft Fonts in to the
printer. It print out faster than the Mac SE as I used parallel rather than
Serial interface. Wordstar Release 4 under PC-Ditto (old version) also print
out as good as with the original IBM PC. The Calamus and Page Stream take
longer time to process than SLM 804 but I can print even with 520ST computer.
I have tried this printer with both 1.5MB RAM & Standard 512K RAM, with 512K
it can only print 1/3 on Calamus and only text on Pagemaker 3.01. Suthipuntha.

Subject: Questions for the net-ters
Hello,
My name is Douglas Bottoms from DePauw University (or Upper
Utopia-for those from here...) and I have some questions for all of you old-
time ATARI users...
1. I'm getting ready to buy my Atari computer and I was wondering which
computer system is the best to get, for a college student with
about $900.00 to work with, possibly more if it would be worth
it. I have used an ATARI 1040ST in high school for 2 years.
I know that the 520ST is the same but with half the memory.
Any help would be appriciated!
2. I would also like to have information on how to integrate a mono-
chrome and composite moniter to the same system in order to
switch between the two.
3. I need information on where the public domain and how to access it
for the Atari, and more information on the UHATARI thing that
had (or still does, I hope...) the files in it, All I have is
a copy of them that is 1 year old...
4. I would also like to know anyone who is willing to give me copies
(legally) of programs and games that would be useful.
5. I have wrote a drawing program GEM-application with GFA-BASIC (I'm
still working on it, but I need to know how to print these
pictues to a printer in the right size according to the Rez
that it is in. (All I get is half of the picture on the paper
and the rest on the barrier.)
If you (as the reader of this inquire) cannot help me with any of these
questions, please forward this to someone who can. I realy appriciate this
help. I'm sorry that I can't send money though, because Upper Utopia has a tu-
ition of aprox. $17.000.97 and this DOES include the pizza on Sunday night,
though!!! Douglas
PLEASE!!! Send replies to: Dbottoms@DePauw
I'm not on any listservers(under force by my superiors), and I'm not to receive
personal mail on this account. Thank you!!!

Does anyone know the format the HP Deskjet printer uses for it's
